Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th, 1961) was an American actress. Known for her work in television and in film in the 1980s, she has received various accolades including two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised in New York New York and fostered by an aunt living in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Her mother split with her father at approximately five. She and her younger sister then relocated into St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still at high school and decided that it was acting she would like to be doing. Yale University New Haven Connecticut gave her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983) in the Yale School of Drama. She was introduced to Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. BA. (Afro-American studies) in the year 1980. A Master of Fine Arts (Drama) from Yale School of Drama School. Angela Bassett has been cast in the lead role of Ramonda in the action-adventure movie, i.e. Black Panther Wakanda forever 2022.
